【Textile】 This micro-ripstop fabric features a plain weave base made of extra-fine 140/2 yarn, with thicker 80/2 yarn (almost twice as thick) forming the grid pattern.
By avoiding any chemical processing and finishing solely with strong washing, differences in shrinkage and tension create fine, regular irregularities in the fabric.
Despite being a lightweight fabric, the 80/2 yarn acts as a framework, resulting in a textured feel with body and resilience.
【Design】 We designed an AUBERGE version of the Cuban shirt, featuring an open collar and outer patch pockets. The embroidery, commissioned from our usual superb factory in Kiryu, depicts a grape pattern with French origins. To make the embroidery motif three-dimensional, we used buttonhole thread (core thread) for the outlines, similar to what's used for jacket buttonholes, and expressed the shadows of the three-dimensional grapes in a freehand style. For the leaf veins, we used thinner threads to create a contrast in thickness. The shirt itself has a relaxed fit.
